Your alpaca adventure blanket should accompany you to every sunset, mountain picnic, marshmallow roasting around the campfire, long conversation with friends, the novel you're sad to finish, and first night in a new home.
Comforting softness has always been at the top of our priorities, but we also wanted to create products that are both durable and easy to care for because we all deserve more time to do what really makes us happy
Our alpaca wool blankets, ponchos, and scarves are designed and hand-woven by Ecuadorian artisans. Our products support Otavalo's communities and its artisans' ancestral techniques. We've made sure that our unique creations offer the perfect balance between their craftsmanship and our modern designs inspired by local colors and traditions.
This means you no longer have to choose between aesthetics and fairness because our products are both beautiful and ethically made.
Art Andina was born of a deep passion for design and a sincere desire to highlight Andean craftsmanship. Inspired by her maternal roots and childhood memories of Ecuador, the designer wanted to pay homage to these origins with each creation.
Summers in the mountains of Ecuador, surrounded by alpacas and breathtaking landscapes, have nourished her imagination and her love for these lands. A traveler at heart, she has always sought to combine her family life with the irresistible urge to explore the world. This is how Art Andina came into being, as an adventure at the crossroads of her passions.
In 2018, the call of the Andes brought her back to Ecuador with a slightly crazy dream in mind. She boarded a bus to Otavalo, renowned for its art of weaving. There, she talked to the artisans, learned their skills, and forged precious links. These encounters gave rise to a rich and authentic collaboration, the very foundation of Art Andina and the fair trade crafts.
Alpaca wool is nothing like sheep's wool and certainly nothing like steel wool. Whether you're in the mood for a touch of warmth on your sofa, an alpaca adventurous blanket for your mountain escapades, or simply a little softness in your reading corner, we've got just what you need. Forget the sweaters grandma knitted for us for Christmas. Art Andina's alpaca wool blankets are silky and soft to the touch.
We've created a blend of 70% alpaca wool and 30% acrylic to offer hard-wearing, easy-care, machine-washable products–perfect for everyday use, indoor or outdoor.
We created Art Andina with the intention of offering beautiful, sustainable products that respect the slow fashion creative process. We don't want to sell you one alpaca wool blanket a year. We want you to keep your blanket for a long time... we've even heard that our first customers still love their Art Andina after 6 years.
That's why we do what we do.
